The territories of indigenous peoples in Latin America and Caribbean coincide with the largest and most biodiverse areas in the world, especially tropical forests like the ones in Mesoamerica and the Amazon. Because of this, indigenous peoples play a key role in protecting nature and biodiversity. However, the indiscriminate use of natural resources for decades has meant that indigenous peoples have sometimes lost the right to use their land. How can we move forward on this agenda?
